March 11, 2015

If you’re a skilled runner and you’d love to partake in a half marathon and 10k race to benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois, or if you’d like to party for a good cause, there are several great events this April that will allow you to make wishes come true for Illinois kids. The events take place on April 10 and April 11, so clear your schedule and register for these fun events today!

A Million Dreams Event Raises Money For Make-A-Wish Illinois

A million dreams just might come true when you attend the Third Annual Masquerade Ball benefiting Make-A-Wish Illinois. Taking place on April 11 at Park Place in Crystal Lake, guests are asked to dress formally in gowns and suits, paired with your favorite mask to go with the theme! The event will be held from 6-11 p.m. and is sure to be a big hit.

Purchase your Masquerade Ball tickets for $35 per person by contacting Yvonne McNillon at ymcmillon570@gmail.com. This exciting event will feature a cocktail party, silent auction, cash bar, and fun activities. Earned proceeds from the event will benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois and help to grant wishes for Illinois kids who are battling critical illnesses. Learn more about the event here.

Allerton Trails Half Marathon And 10K Race Benefits Illinois Wish Kids

If you cannot attend the Masquerade Ball on April 11 or maybe running sounds like a better time to you, don’t miss the Allerton Trails Half Marathon and 10K Race, which will be held on April 10 and 11.  The race will take place at the Robert Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello. Last year, the event raised $14,000 for Make-A-Wish Illinois!

If this sounds like the perfect event for you, you have a few options to choose from, or enjoy them all! Choose from the TRAIL-GLO 5K, which will be held at 8:30 p.m. on April 10. This fun run/walk will start and finish near the Visitor Center, and will offer illuminated trail markings under a 2/3 full moon, and many great sights to see. You’ll pass through the Sunken Garden, Chinese Musicians, Rodin’s Adam, and more! The run/walk isn’t even the best part—stick around for treats, music, and surprises after the race.

If you will be participating in the TRAIL-GLO 5K, runners must bring their own arm light, headlamp, and flashlight. Register for the TRAIL-GLO 5K today and you will have the option to register for the TRAIL-GLO 5K, the Half Marathon, the 10K race, or a combination of them all.
